Annual Examinations

It is important to have your pet examined by a veterinarian at least once per year. As pets get older their needs change to ensure their peak health. Your pet will receive a thorough examination by one of our licensed veterinarians. Our staff will communicate with you to help you understand what the needs of your pet are. For prevention and early detection of health concerns your pet should be examined at least once per year. For older pets we recommend twice per year examinations.

Vaccination and Wellness Care

We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in wellness programs we offer have rewards to be noticed by both pet and owner.

Our wellness programs are designed especially for your pet and include:

Pocket Pet Care

We realize that dogs and cats may not be the only pets that are part of your family. Dr. Mendolera and Dr. Malo care for your smaller furry friends as well. Smaller pets we care for at our clinic include rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, and hedgehogs. We offer vaccination and wellness care to exotic pets.

Emergency Care

In any emergency, every moment counts. If you have an emergency with your pet our staff is ready to respond. Our staff is trained in administering the ABC’s of basic life support: Airway, Breathing, and Circulation Compressions. Emergency care is offered during normal business hours. If this is an after hours emergency, we have affiliations with local veterinary emergency hospitals.

Laboratory Services

Our hospital has a well-equipped laboratory allowing us to obtain answers about your pet’s health quickly and efficiently. Our facilities provide for hematology, serum chemistry, urine analysis, and parasite testing. We also have the power to utilize laboratories from around the country including: Michigan State University, the University of Minnesota, Veterinary Allergy Reference Laboratories (VARL), and Antech Diagnostics.

Radiology

Millersport Small Animal Clinic utilizes digital radiographs (XRAYs). Use of XRAYs allows our veterinarians to evaluate your pet’s cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, muscular-skeletal, reproductive and urinary systems.

Ultrasounds

We have the capability of performing abdominal ultrasound examinations. The use of our ultrasound equipment allows us to gather diagnostic images which provide an internal look into your pet’s health. If your pet is expecting little ones, ultrasound gives our veterinarians an internal view on the well-being of the litter.

Surgery
Our surgical suite is highly equipped to provide a wide range of surgical procedures. Surgical procedures we offer include (but not limited to):

Dr. Malo is available for consultation at any time. Your pet’s vital signs are monitored throughout the entire procedure via EKG, oxygen saturation, and blood pressure monitors.

Dentistry

Regular dental cleaning is essential to maintaining your pet’s health.Our dental services include:

  •     Teeth Cleaning and Polishing
  •     Tooth Extraction
  •     Minor Oral Surgery

Pharmacy

We take pride in maintaining a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea/tick control products, and heartworm preventatives. Most medication your pet should need, we have in stock. If there is a need for a specialty product, not in our pharmacy, we can obtain that medication quickly.

Nutritional Counseling

All animals benefit from a well-balanced diet. Some pets even require specialty food. Often it is difficult for a pet owner to develop a nutritional plan on their own. Our knowledgeable staff is available to help you choose the right diet keeping your pet happy, healthy, and active.
We carry a full line of prescription diets by Hills. We have the ability to consult with the veterinarians at Hills regarding specialty foods and treats for certain conditions.

Behavioral Medicine

Illness doesn’t always apply to the physical well-being of a pet. Our veterinarians will help you determine if your pet has a behavioral disorder. Behavioral disorders include:

  •     Territorial Aggression

We work with you, the pet owner, to develop a treatment plan for your beloved four-legged friend.

Microchipping

Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer the industry leader in microchip products. We use the best because these products are the most effective in ensuring a safe recovery.
